Shaheed Bhagat Singh's
acts of bravery and his supreme
sacrifice at the altar of freedom
are legendary. His struggle and
sacrifice inspired many and
galvanized the people of India to
oppose the British rule with renewed
vigour. He was a fearless activist
and an intellectual who similingly
embraced the gallows at the young
age of 23.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh
represented the awakening of the
revolutionary potential of the
youth. He moved away from reliance
on individual action and became the
epitome of serious rethinking and
ideological transition amongst the
youth. Through the “Bharat Naujawan
Sabha” he tried to nurture the
reading habit and promoted open
debate and discussion.
In
his writings, Bhagat Singh advocated
total change' and establishment of a
new order not only, sans the unjust
British, but bereft of
socio-economic disparities,
injustice and a society where human
dignity was upheld by relentless
struggle against ignorance and
superstition.
