The Placement Cell, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is a student body incorporated for inviting corporates and facilitating the recruitments of the final year students. The Placement Cell’s team comprise of 14 student co-ordinators, who are constantly engaged in developing alliances with potential recruiters seeking quality human capital and furnishing excellent career opportunities to the students.

During the recruitment season 2021-2022, placements at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College broke all past records, making it the most successful recruitment season ever at SBSC. The Season witnessed an all-time high of 276+ offers and a significant growth of 60% in the number of recruiters as more than 50 companies visited the campus for 80+ profiles in diverse sectors. The DE Shaw Group offered the highest ever package of 23 LPA. The Placement Cell was able to bring on board all Big 4 accounting firms, namely Deloitte USI, KPMG India, KPMG Global, Ernst & Young India, Ernst & Young Global and PWC India, for eight diverse profiles. Apart from Big 4s, the cell also onboarded Big 3 management consulting firms such as Bain & Company and Boston Consulting Group, hiring for both full-time and internship opportunities. Over the years, SBSC has maintained the confidence of Big 4s and Big 3s, which has resulted in an increase of 55% in their offers.

Moreover, corporate giants like Accenture, Sattva Consulting and unicorn start-ups like Vahdam India, Byjus, to name a few, placed their trust in the potential of our students and recruited from SBSC for the first time. The recruitment season also saw an influx of more than 50% novel recruiters. Apart from providing career opportunities to the students, the Placement Cell also hosted articleship drives for the students pursuing the Chartered Accountancy course. Companies such as PWC India and Grant Thornton were a few among others who hired articleship trainees from our campus.

While the pandemic slowed down student learning opportunities, the Placement Cell took the initiative to collaborate with digital learning platform Coursera to provide all students free access to various online courses. The initiative drew the participation of more than 1000 students, who used these courses for upskilling themselves. The cell also collaborated with Quollab to provide students with an opportunity to work on live projects in domains like equity research, consulting, venture capital etc. Apart from these, the Placement Team also carried out a CV vetting drive for more than 450 students to ensure the standardization and genuineness of all CVs. To increase the corporate exposure of first- and second-year college students, the Placement Cell associated with firms like Deloitte USI, KPMG India, EY India, The D.E. Shaw Group, etc., to host events like Graduate School Maverick, KPMG Ideation Challenge and summer internships. The cell has witnessed a smooth shift towards virtual placements to provide a hassle-free hiring experience for recruiters and students.

Given the uncertainty due to COVID, the year was full of challenges. Lockdowns impacted mobility and dismantled the set standards. This was a call for innovation and agility. The constant and untiring efforts made by The Placement Cell’s team helped maintain the past legacy and achieve new milestones. The cell successfully managed a smooth transition to virtual placements leading to the most successful recruitment year at SBSC.
